Most DIYers, when choosing a tool, are guided mainly by price. Some – by color. Well, both of these methods are fundamentally wrong. Each type of tool, be it a jigsaw, a screwdriver or an angle grinder, has its own special criteria, and is characterized not only by advantages, but also by pitfalls.
Today, this type of tool is divided into three main subtypes, which are primarily determined by the diameter of the attachments (disks): from 100 mm and above, 75 mm and, finally, 50 mm and less.
The purpose of the two extreme types is obvious: a large diameter is used for harsh cleaning and cutting of standard and large-sized workpieces, and a micro tool is used by restorers, modelers, etc. But there are questions about an angle grinder of an intermediate form factor. We honestly tried to answer them by studying a couple of mini-angle grinders. However, we were unable to come up with any serious specifics. This does not mean that there are none. Surely there are. We sincerely hope that in the comments to this article there will be owners of mini-angle grinders who will tell you about the advantages of such a tool and throw in a couple of usage scenarios.
