Tall and low, fluffy and pointed, green and blue – the choice of conifers for the dacha is quite large. In addition to recommendations for care and pruning when creating garden compositions from conifers in landscape design, it is important to take into account both the growth of trees and the size of buildings on the site.
Conifers include trees and shrubs. At the same time, the former can be either dwarf – from half a meter high, or tall – up to 5-10 meters or more. Creeping, with a weeping or spherical crown – these are just characteristics of certain types of conifers for the dacha, but not the type itself.
When choosing conifers for the dacha, focus on the size of the garden plot – 10 m² is unlikely to be enough for a tall pine or spruce, and dwarf ones in single plantings, in turn, are “lost” in a large area. No less important are the style of the landscape area, habitus, environmental conditions: soil composition, amount of precipitation, average annual temperature, and winter hardiness of plants.
If you are going to plant plants without a preliminary design project, then you will have to take into account factors such as the material of the facade of the summer house, its height, the presence of other buildings and plantings on the site yourself.
We recommend either using the services of landscape designers or using ready-made planting schemes. Below – we will provide spectacular compositions of the most unpretentious coniferous plants for the dacha with names and photos, with which you can work even without experience.
